The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. Each year a new theme is introduced and this year the theme is “I Belong!”

Young artists get involved by submitting their entry along with the online entry form (download here) to reflections@moorlandspta.org. The deadline is Thursday, December 4, 2025. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are: Visual Arts Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Dance Choreography, and Film Production.

Reflections Helpful Tips

  • Skip the paper. All entries must be submitted using your school’s online form—no printed forms this year. (download here)

  • Solo creations only. Each entry should be an individual work—group projects aren’t part of this program.

  • Mix it up! Students are welcome to submit entries in more than one category—maybe a music piece, a video, and a poem! Just remember: only one entry per category (so no two videos, for example).

  • Theme matters. The Reflections program is based on a theme each year, the artwork needs to reflect the theme, "I Belong!". So a student may have a beautiful portrait of their dog, but if it doesn't relate to the theme, the dog portrait should not be included in this year's contest. Explore more about the theme here.

Additional Guidelines

  • No visible student names on the front of artwork, music scores, or videos.

    1. For visual arts, literature, and photography, write the student’s name, title, and category on the back of the entry.

    2. (If a name appears on the front, simply cover it with tape.)

    3. For dance, video, and music, student names must not appear in opening or closing credits.

  • Dance, video, and music entries must be under 5 minutes.

  • Photography must be:

    1. At least 640×960 pixels

    2. 300 dpi resolution

    3. Printed between 3×5 and 8×10 inches

  • Video formats accepted: MP4, MOV, AVI

  • Audio formats accepted: MP3, WAV (Note: MP4 and other video formats are not accepted for audio entries.)
