WHAT'S NEXT?
JAPANESE AND MANDARIN CLASSES
 
ENROLLMENT FORM HERE - forms due Tuesday Feb 23rd.
 
We are pleased to announce some new classes. We will be adding a Japanese class on Monday afternoons (in P701)  and a  Mandarin 
class Tuesday afternoons (in P704). These classes will cater for beginner and returning students, all ages are invited to enroll. 
Classes will begin Monday March 1st and Tuesday march 2nd. Classes will run for 8 weeks, and will cost 136.00. Checks can be made out to World Language - Moorlands PTA.
Students follow a curriculum and will receive weekly lesson notes and worksheets. Students will have the opportunity to extend class once the 8 weeks have finished and we will ask classes to finalise re-enrollment in week 7 . Teachers can speak more fully to the curriculum and can be contacted with regard to assessment and ongoing accreditation for the courses.  Contact details will be provided upon enrollment.

CULTURAL DAY - MARCH.

Students and parents are invited to a lunchtime event. The Moorlands cultural day will provide an opportunity for students and parents to come to talk to teachers and discuss future language development, and provide an opportunity for students to see what happens in the language classes and invite students to enroll in a sample short course which will  introduce each of the four languages we offer at Moorlands. Parents will be offered a reduced rate so they can judge whether a student is ready to take on a language course. 
 
The cultural day will also showcase each of the classes currently enrolled and invite students and parents to see some interesting
portions of the chosen language, books, customs, information about where the language  is spoken, how many people speak the language, as well as some cultural artefacts such as fabrics or handicrafts.

We will offer food and drinks from  many regions too for students to sample and enjoy.We would love to hear your suggestions for what to include and we are looking for volunteers to help organize the event. Just email me at worldlanguage@moorlandspta.org.

WHAT'S GOING ON NOW?
Currently we have two Spanish classes and a French class running.  If you would like to join one of these classes please let me know and I would be happy advise you which class would be a best fit for your child. Remember pre K kids are welcome if you want to include younger siblings. The more students we have the more we can cater for specific levels and keep all our kids happy.

CURRENT COURSES:
Spanish Rm 701, Tuesdays 3pm - 4pm. This is a returning spanish class. The student members are older and have some exposure to Spanish. This class is currently enrolling. TEACHER Mark Sassi.

Spanish Rm 704, Thursdays 3:15pm - 4:15pm. This is a beginner class for pre K, K, 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders if they're really new to Spanish. There are some older beginning students too.  This class is currently enrolling. TEACHER: Matilde Menendez
 
French Rm 701, Thursdays 3pm - 4pm. This is a returning French class. The students are older and have some exposure to French. This class has two spaces left. It is also possible to setup a beginners class of younger students: if you are interested in a beginner's French please contact us and we will be happy to set it up. TEACHER: Franziska Edwards.
Classes end the  week of March 18th. Please contact Kirsty Lee or Jay Swift if you would like to enroll in these classes.  Next intake: week of March 23rd.
 
Students  are encouraged to make requests for a continuing program via their teacher and as long as 6 students wish to continue the class can too. Costs will be provided at the end of  week 6.  Students will have the opportunity to extend classes once the 8 weeks have finished and we will ask classes in week 7 to finalise re-enrollment.
