5/5 Track Meet is still on rain or shine!
Please remind your child of their events, the roster is at the bottom of the page. Arrowhead dismisses at 3:30pm and the meet starts at 4pm. It should last about an hour and a half. Ribbons will be given to each athlete after their event is over. Students may leave with their parent or guardian after their last event.
5/4 Track Shirts will be handed out this afternoon!
I will need a parent or two to volunteer to hand out the shirts and write down the number assigned to each child so we can get them back at the end of the season.
If you do not receive a shirt today I will have some available on Wed before the meet.
A final roster is available to view at the bottom of this page. Due to a few absences and last minute changes by the kids I have had to rearrange relays. Please keep in mind that this is only the first meet and we will have the opportunity to make changes again. My goal is to allow as many kids who want to run on a relay team as possible. I can move kids up in grade to run but not down e.g. 3rd grader running with 5th graders but not vice versa.
5/3 Our first meet is this Wednesday at Arrowhead ES at 4pm
We will be competing against Arrowhead and Westhill elementary schools. Coach Burke from Arrowhead has sent the following information for our convenience:
Parking WILL BE an issue here at Arrowhead. It would be very helpful to let your parents know ahead of time that they should not park at the Martial Arts studio across the street. They will tow cars. Parents may park on the right shoulder of Arrowhead Drive and along the curbs in the neighborhood under the bridge behind the school. The parking lot behind the school by the ball field will be closed off as that is where the students will be competing.

It is important that kids arrive early in order to warm up and practice a bit before the meet starts. There will be no pre-meet gathering of students for instructions. Field events and running events will run simultaneously with Girls doing their Running Events First and Boys doing Field Events First. Relays will be run during the running events and NOT at the end of the meet so kids need to remain at the running event if they are on a relay. At the end of their respective events kids will go directly to their next event e.g. girls to field and boys to running.
The running events will run in this order: 440, 50, 75 then relay.
Coach Bennett also handed out emergency information forms that must be filled out and returned prior to the first meet or your child may not be able to participate.

Important: We are hosting the meet on May 19th at Arrowhead ES. The team needs to provide volunteers to help run the meet. I will be setting up a list on MySignups to get things started but I would like to have someone help me organize this. Contact me if you are interested, I have all the information you will need.

General Information for Parents
The following information will help ensure your child(ren) have a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Emergency Contact Information card filled out. I will hand these out to students the first week of practice. I need them back by the first meet or the kids can't compete as per district rules.
- No Track Spikes allowed. Running shoes or other type of soft soled sneaker that provides a little traction on grass or dirt are best.
- Dress for the Activity and Weather. Spring weather is still fickle but generally warmer. Shorts and Tshirts are usually fine but cooler/damp days might require a light jacket or long sport pants or leggings.
- Pack a Snack! Encourage kids to eat a light snack before practice and meets. Sport bars, granola, a piece of fruit or sport drink are some suggestions. Include a water bottle esp. on warm days.
