Letter From Your President

The PTA Executive Board is a group of people who help to make the decisions regarding the operation of the PTA.   They meet once a month (usually the first Tuesday of the month) and discuss events, make suggestions for the budget, brainstorm fundraising ideas and try to resolve any issues that have arisen.    The President meets with Mr. Santos often and then reports anything relevant back to the Executive Board.    The Executive Board also are liaisons for the rest of the various committees to answer questions or direct them in the right direction should they need any help with their committees.    They also attend every General PTA meeting.

Around March the PTA Executive Board starts to think about next year and filling out committee chair positions as well as positions on the Executive board.    We are in need of these following positions:

Treasurer:     Keeps track of the monthly spending and balances the books, pays any bills PTA might have, Writes check for reimbursements and Moor Money, Audits the books once a year,    gets insurance for the PTA and pays our taxes.

Secretary:   Keeps the minutes from both the Ex. Board and General PTA meeting and then posts the minutes on the website.   Keeps any correspondence that the PTA receives to share at the meetings.

VP of Fundraising:    Organizes and suggests ways for Moorlands PTA to make money for our organization.    In the past these have included Cookie Sales, gift wrapping, PACE, Pass the Hat, EScrip, Boxtops and Labels, and the Auction.

VP of Permitting:   Works with the Northshore district as well as Jackie Eggers in the front office to hold PTA events in our gym or classrooms.   Makes sure that outside groups such as Mad Science has the proper paperwork and insurance to come to Moorlands.   Also orders chairs and tables when needed for activities at Moorlands.

VP of Community Programs:  Researches and coordinates bringing outside programs into Moorlands such as Mad Science, Chess Club, Art workshop, Holiday shop, Missoula Children’s Theatre, etc.    The VP of community Programs will also find parents to help organize and run these programs.

The Moorlands PTA cannot run smoothly without these valuable people.    There is an abundance of resources and training to help run these positions. If you are interested in helping out Moorlands PTA and becoming an Executive Board member or have question please contact either Laura Parpart at president@moorlandspta.org or Bob Graff at volunteers@moorlandspta.org
