Moorlands Elementary has had volunteers in previous years for the historian roles, but did not have an historian in the year 2008/09. The historian role is reasonably flexible in its application and could provide an opportunity for students at Moorlands to record the events of the year both at Moorlands and also in the local community.

Students will have the opportunity to provide articles and photographs, editorial pieces and art works to an online blog called “The Year in Making”. Historian students will be able to record events and submit pieces for publication to an online blog. The blog will be made available to staff, students and teachers at Moorlands Elementary. Students will be encouraged to record school and community events in a variety of journalistic roles.
 
Motivated students may also undertake field trips to important community resources such as fire, police, and government in Kenmore and report on local concerns. Other places of interest could include environment or leisure. You may contact historian@moorlandspta.org for more information.
